[2252] Rare Evans machine cancel
used at Roanoke VA
on a more or less experimental basis in 1905. October 13 date, 1 cent 1902 issue (Scott 300), postcard to Webb City MO. Hanmer #2, rated RR. Picture side of card shows Lace Water Falls, Natural Bridge. Evans machines were only used at Roanoke VA and Washington DC; all are rare. This marking bears a lot of similarities to American machines of the period - but it is not an American! Nice item for the advanced machine specialist. $100
[3488.2] Splendid example of the rare 5-bar Cheshire
machine cancel of Cleveland, Ohio
on an illustrated ad cover. Mostly clear rectilinear postmark with 5 bar killer on 2 cent red stamped envelope; cover with some toning or soiling; addressed to Glenville. Corner card showing the Savings and Trust Company; Glenville receiver. Cover with some soiling on reverse as well; very nice machine item! $100

Rare Leavitt
experimental machine from the early 1880s; 1 cent banknote cover Boston MA
to Lowell MA. No date or corner card but this marking was used in late 1882. Type X3-2B as described in the Payne book on Leavitt machines; it's die II (used October-December). Value guide "H" (rare, $300-500) when published in 1999. Nice example which is a bit run off at right but clearly shows the vertical gap in the killer over the right side of the stamp. $200

Nice 1938 example of the ovate flag cancel of Russell, Minnesota. 4 cent Army issue (selvedge at bottom). Probably a philatelic-sent for example (doesn't look like a double rate cover), with an Albuquerque PO box return address on the back, but a net late use of an ovate flag. Used 1934-1939. SOLD
